Advertising doesn't mirror how people act, but how they are dreaming

The ad on the right apeals to the audience because it goes outside the box. It's funny although not very realistic because no one unless they are willing to go to prision would go so far as to point a gun at you for a chair. It is, of course, an ad for beer, I suppose this beer will bring out your confidence.

The next ad trys to show how much mosquitoes fear a certain bug spray. We all know that mosquitoes don't go around painting stripes on themselves to hide from things, but we do know that if they did it would be rather amusing. This is supposed to be funny and capture the audience with its witty humor.

It's hard to tell if we have gone to far or not through advertising. All the companies that create ads are all trying to capture the attention of their audiences. They look for something that will stick in the mind of the consumer so that they'll tell their friends about how interesting it was. In order to do that they all have to step beyond the invisible lines. If it has gone too far it has all happened so subtly that I’m sure no one even saw it coming.

Advertisers try to blend fantasy and reality, to mirror what people are dreaming so that the audience belives that that product will be similar to something that they long for. Subconciously the audience will think that buying whatever was shown in the ad will bring them closer to what they dream.
